Gary was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and brother
to the Nagelhout Family. He was called home to be with our
Lord on October 30, 2024, after a short battle of brain
cancer. Gary worked at IBM as an electrical engineer for 33
years. Upon his "retirement” from IBM, he embraced his new
profession/passion as a teacher. He began his second career where he taught math to middle and high school students for 14 years and taught as an adjunct math professor in college for 12 years. Gary excelled in his passion for teaching and investing in the lives of all his students, no matter what walk of life they were in, taught math to inmates through the initiative program at Bard College. Outside of teaching, he was an active member of his local church for 44 years, where he served on church council, operated the AV equipment and managed the care of the buildings and property. However, Gary’s most coveted titles were head counselor for the Cadet Program and Bible Adventure Leader during Vacation Bible School. Gary’s deepest passions were for unconditionally loving and spoiling his grandchildren, teaching children of all ages about Jesus’ love, developing a greater understanding of Jesus’ love for him through daily Bible reading and devotions, and his unwavering commitment and joy serving and volunteering in the Tres Dias community.
